Testimonials from 2020 A5 Scholarship Recipients:
My name in Fanta Jatta, I am a Master of Public Health graduate student of Western Michigan University’s MPH program. I want to thank the committee for giving me this opportunity and helping me pay for my books towards my last semester. I want to throw in a little of what this means to me. This scholarship really means a lot in the sense that I come from an immigrant community in Metro-Detroit, and I will be one of the first students graduating with a master’s in public health. My vision is to merge my knowledge of public health and immigration and help my community.
My name is Dorothy Jones, I am a senior at Wayne State University and I am from Detroit, Michigan. I am a recipient of the Bachelor’s scholarship from A5 Family Connections. I will be graduating in December. I am majoring in public relations and minoring in new media. After college, I hope to work in television as a producer, work for non- profit events, and eventually have my own non-profit. Growing up, I always wanted to go into television. I have a passion for social media, teaching others, and learning more about my community. That’s why I felt PR would be the best fit for me. Thank you A5 for this amazing opportunity.
In a society that undervalues fatherhood, A5 Family Connections has created an event to encourage and celebrate fathers. Fathers and their children are invited to attend an evening focused on them. We will serve a meal, have some interactive events that show the need for fathers, and end the night with fathers and their children signing a covenant together.
‘Celebration of Fatherhood’ is held in June and is typically an evening that includes a sit-down dinner, dessert, photo booth, games, and dancing. We will also have a short message from our keynote speaker.
We look forward to having you and your children (including their friends and those you’ve impacted in a fatherly way) attend this fun-filled evening.

CELEBRATION OF MOTHERHOOD
Check back often as we make plans for future events that celebrate Christ-focused Mothers.
We are in the process of planning a 5K for spring 2021. Participate in the 5K and support the A5 Scholarship Charity whose mission is to ease financial stress for post-secondary by providing scholarships, tools, and resources that will change the fabric of the community, one student at a time.
