I LOVE LOVE LOVE visiting my granddaughter. I love being able to stop by her house and see her beautiful face!! So today, as I walked in the door to my granddaughter’s house, my granddaughter had her eyes fixed on her mommy (my daughter).
But then she saw Grammie (that’s me),I began to call her name and smile!! And guess what she did? She began to cry and cry and cry. I thought to myself “Oh my goodness, is she okay?” And then my beautiful daughter said “Oh mom, she is fine. She is probably sleepy!” So I proceeded to pick her up and hug her, and she stopped crying. But then she pulled back from me and looked at me again, and she began to cry again!
So my daughter came back over and picked her up and my granddaughter looked at her and she stopped crying. My daughter then tells me she had to go do something and asked me to hold my granddaughter. So at this point, I am doing everything in my power to keep my granddaughter from crying. But I can tell that my granddaughter was looking around trying to find her mommy.
Eventually I get up and point to her mommy, and when she saw her mommy, she was relaxed. She then started looking at me and giving me those beautiful smiles and laughs that I was used to. As I sit back now reflecting on my time with my granddaughter, I realize something. It was fixing her eyes on her mommy that gave her the true comfort that she needed. But then I thought: This is the same with us!!
As we fix our eyes on God and fix our minds on His purposes, we have comfort!! We can identify that as long as our eyes are fixed on Christ and His Father, and we know where our sustenance comes from and where our very well being is held, then we can look and have comfort!! We can be energized!! We can have joy!!
Our goal in life should be to constantly fall in our Heavenly Father’s arms and know “He’s got us”! But we have to be able to recognize our Heavenly Father. When my granddaughter was in my arms she knew that I was not her mother.
My daughter and I even resemble each other, we have similar eyes, similar skin, similar mouths, etc.. But my granddaughter could recognize that I was not her mother. In order for us to recognize our Heavenly Father we have to stay in close contact with Him. This means praying regularly and reading His Word regularly.
This is how we stay close to Him, and when we do that then we are able to recognize Him. And when we are able to recognize Him, then we are able to find complete security in Him! So let’s keep looking at God and finding security in Him alone
