It was a day I will never forget. I had begun my day working out with my jump ropes. I had so much on my mind, wearing the “owner hat” of the company had become so tiring. I had tears rolling down my face and I said “I can’t do this, LORD. I’m tired! I need strength!”
After finishing my workout, I head back to my room to start getting ready for the day. As I entered my bathroom, it was a moment I will never forget, it was like a loud audible voice asked me “Who Am I?”. So I began to say all the attributes of God that I know He is. I began stating “I know Satan is a liar, but I know that God is truthful. I know He is light, I know He is loving, I know He is caring..” By the time I had eight attributes down of God, I was laughing and singing with joy. It was almost like an out of body experience. I just went from tearful and defeated to now proclaiming God’s attributes to Him.
Then when I entered my shower, I started having a conversation with God. And almost immediately He put a song in my heart. I began singing “God is able to do, just what He said He would do. He’s gonna fulfill every promise to you. Don’t give up on God, cause He won’t give up on you. He’s Able!” I hadn’t heard this Deitrick Haddon song in years, but God placed it on my heart. I was full of joy. Now don’t get me wrong… My circumstance didn’t change, I was still going through the trial, but my perspective did change.
Have you ever experienced spiritual warfare? That is probably a silly question. From the moment you enter into a relationship with Jesus Christ, you enter into this zone of spiritual warfare. It is sometimes infrequent and it is sometimes frequent, but it is there. When we are faced with spiritual warfare, it is so easy to fall into despair and think our situations are going to break us. But this is not how our God wants it to be. He wants us to rely solely on Him and trust that He is who He says he is. But the only way you will be able to fully rely on His truths is if you know His truths. In order to know His truths, we have to be spending time with Him and studying His Word
